Approximately 7 years ago I was diagnosed with a rare form of skin cancer. The surgeries did a number on me, and I had to undergo some serious reconstruction in my abdomen and pelvic areas. The surgeries were to leave me partially crippled on my left side. As a result, I became inactive and gained approximately 60 pounds. This not only caused issues with my self-esteem, but also caused issues in my relationships with my loved ones.
I got sick of feeling the way I have felt for the past 7 years and decided to take a chance on boot camp. I am now down 50 pounds and still working on getting back into shape. “I’m not sure my story is all that unusual…. As a woman ‘of a certain age’ I struggle with maintaining a healthy lifestyle and weight. Kids, elder parents, work – who’s got time? I’m 53 and come from a long line of short round women! Determined not to be one of them I have worked at it for years – walking, biking, spin classes at the Y – but still after turning 40 I found myself heavier than I’d ever been. I needed something different so I signed up with a personal trainer and finally saw some results. Sadly, when the economy went south – so did my ability to keep the trainer. Unsuccessfully I tried to keep up with strength and cardio training on my own but the weight started creeping back up.
I quickly learned that for me I need accountability and the peer pressure of a group setting. On a whim I responded to a ‘Meet Up’ notice to try out a new boot camp group starting up in Baldwin Park – Forte Fitness. I loved it from the start. It was the perfect alternative to having a personal trainer. Alicia challenges her ‘campers’ in a positive way and treats everyone with respect and caring. Each workout is different and always challenging – sort of like playing outside for adults. Since joining Forte Fitness several years ago I’m in better shape than ever – I’m even getting better at running (Alica will tell you that I HATE to run!).
I’ve been able to mostly maintain a stable weight but recently with Alicia’s help in tweaking my diet I’ve started to see some pounds drop off – finally. That’s all great, but one of the best things? Being one of the ‘older’ campers it’s always nice when I can kick a younger ‘whippersnappers’ butt! Doesn’t happen very often but it keeps me on my toes. I dragged one of my co-workers, who is 13 years my junior, to camp a few weeks ago and she jokingly said “when I get old I wanna’ be like you!” Made me laugh but one of the best compliments ever!

What Kind of Results Can I Expect By Joining Your Program?
By joining our Orlando Bootcamp, you will be extremely motivated and encouraged to exercise in a team setting. You will lose fat, tone your muscles, increase your flexibility, and have fun doing it! Our specialized and professionally designed Boot Camp in Orlando training program integrates every aspect you need to get you fit and fabulous and is 100% GUARANTEED to get you results. In addition, if you pay attention to the eating guidelines and do your best to stay on track, you will be amazed at the changes that can take place in your body. You will notice decreased stress and tension and increased energy levels and stamina. You will also build your cardiovascular endurance and strength as well as your flexibility.
What Should I Bring to My First Class?
You should always wear comfortable exercise clothes and a good pair of running shoes to boot camp. Dress in layers for the early morning classes, but get ready to sweat! Also bring a large towel and an exercise mat if you have one. Don’t forget a large bottle of water for water breaks!
I Have Never Been to Boot Camp Before, Will I Survive?
Of Course! We will never ask anyone to do more than they can do safely. From our basic fitness analysis, we are able to determine your abilities and design exercises around your needs. Our Baldwin Park, Winter Park, and Waterford Lakes Boot Camp classes are small so each recruit can receive individual attention. We promise that our Boot Camp will be a very exciting and rewarding program!
How Much Weight Will I Lose?
The amount of weight lost in our Orlando Boot Camp will vary. Since we have started our Orlando Boot Camp, our average camper is averaging a loss of 4-6 pounds of fat and 2-5 inches over the course of a month. Recruits that follow the nutritional guidance that we provide will see greater success, as diet and exercise go hand-in-hand. Orlando Boot Camp will teach you the true value of your body and you will learn how to treat it with respect!
What Happens if it Rains?
For our East Orlando location, we meet indoors so this is never an issue. For our Baldwin Park location, we just meet right on the other side of the parking lot under the pavillion. For our Winter park location, we are under a covered area so this is never an issue. If it's unsafe to drive for any reason and we end up canceling a class, we do our best to schedule a make-up class.
What Is a Typical Orlando Boot Camp Workout Like?
Every training day in our program is different! We are always challenging the body in new ways, and that means that you will always be progressing! A few things do stay the same: we always complete a thorough warm-up and cool down. We also incorporate various stretching and flexibility techniques to help create nice long and lean muscle. We have a fine-tuned Boot Camp formula that will target your core strength, total body strength, coordination, balance, and get you the results that you are looking for!
What if I Can’t Perform Certain Exercises during our Orlando Boot Camp?
We provide modified versions of most exercises for our campers. Since everyone is at a different level, we will demonstrate the various progressions of each exercise for you to choose from.
